Japanese women are getting tired of the Japanese Valentine's Day tradition that obligates them to buy chocolate for the men in their lives. The women receive no chocolate in return. According to tradition the chocolate gifts have to have symbolically communicate the way the woman feels for the man.The ridiculous holiday started in the Roman Empire and has made an impact in other parts of the world as well:
- In Lithuania, virtual kisses must not be same sex.
- In Vienna, a Valentine's Day fiasco has the Church scrambling to reinforce its homophobia.
- In India, the hardline Hindus burned greeting cards--take that commercialized love.
- It's 20 percent off plastic surgery in China--no ticket, no facelift.
- In Thailand, the Centipede King married the Scorpion Queen.
