The film documents Thompson's relationships with journalists, Hollywood types, Washington insiders and sports-holes.

Buy the Ticket, Take the Ride includes accounts of Thompson's life from his family and other living looming luminaries such as Johnny Depp, Benicio Del Toro, Bill Murray, Sean Penn, John Cusack, George McGovern, Gary Hart, Tom Wolfe, William F. Buckley and crazy-assed Gary Busey.
