Democrats Subpoena Fired U.S. Attorneys

by Jay Allbritton
Congress issued subpoenas last week as part of an investigation into the firing of several U.S. Attorneys by the Bush administration.

One of the ousted attorneys, David Iglesias, says he was pressured by U.S. Representative Heather Wilson (R-NM) and Senator Pete Domenici (R-NM) to indict Democratic officials before the 2006. Iglesias refused. Wilson and Domenici could face charges.

Paul Blumenthal has more on Huffington Post.

On Feb 15, Chuck Schumer discussed the subject before the Senate.

On Feb. 26, Joee Digenova went on MSNBC to discuss the firings. He makes the point that the smear--the attorneys were allegedly fired for poor performance--is worse than the firing.

On March 1, Rahm Emanuel responded to the scandal on the House floor.
