Crist May Soon Have Time to Work on Tan

by Jay Allbritton
The conservative group The Club For Growth made it official and endorsed Marco Rubio, Florida Governor Charlie Crist's primary opponent in the 2010 Florida senate race. Not exactly a surprise, I wrote about the Club's chubby for Rubio back in May. After Crist's early support for President Obama's stimulus package, it became clear that he would be marked for removal by the far right.

If the CfG pushes Rubio over the top, the domino effect will be very interesting, likely culminating in a much closer Senate race in the general election than there would have been had Crist taken the nomination. The loss would also very likely take Crist, a dubious candidate to begin with, out of the running for President or Vice President in 2012 and beyond.
